If you can't find an answer here, use the form opposite to ask Shoo Fly a question. Replies will be sent to the email address you supply. Installing softwareTo install our resources, insert the Software Disc into your computer's CD or DVD drive. After a few seconds you will be prompted to 'install on computer' or 'play from disc'. If this message does not appear, go to 'My Computer' icon and double click on the icon labeled 'Shoo Fly'. You should now see a file with the software title, for example 'Jack_and_the_Beans_Talk.exe', double click on this file. Choose the 'install on computer' button, this will start the install setup program. In most instances you should not change the default install location, this will create an icon on your desktop called 'Shoo Fly' and in the Windows 'Start' menu. Software is now installed on your computer. Remove the CD. [back to top]Running software from discTo run software directly from disc, insert the software disc into your CD or DVD disc drive. After a few seconds you will be prompted to 'install on computer' or 'play from disc'; select 'play from disc' option. If you DO NOT see this option, open 'My Computer' from your desktop or Windows 'Start' menu and double click on the 'Shoo Fly' icon. Following this double click on the icon that relates to the software title, for example 'Jack_and_the_Beans_Talk.exe'. You will now see the prompt window, select 'play from disc'. [back to top]Running software from your computerYou must have installed the software before running it from your computer. To find out how to install software, click here. Double clicking on the 'Shoo Fly' icon on your desktop takes you to all Shoo Fly software titles you have installed, alternatively you can open the Windows 'Start' menu and find the Shoo Fly folder inside the 'Programs' folder. [back to top]Problems with soundIf you have problems hearing the soundtrack or other sounds that accompany our software, check the following:
Resource BankEach software title contains a number of image and audio files for you to use. To access these resources, run the software (from your computer or from disc) and click on the 'Resource Bank' button on the main menu screen. This will open a new window containing all image and sound files. The use of the resources in the Resource Bank is open-ended. For example you might wish to create a new whiteboard resource, handout, or play a sound file. [back to top]Whiteboard LibraryWe include a range of Whiteboard Resources with each software title. To access the Whiteboard Library run the software (from your computer or from disc). From the main screen, select 'Whiteboard Library' button. You should then select the appropriate button depending upon which software you have installed. If you do not use a Promethean or SMART Interactive Whiteboard, you can choose 'use with other whiteboards or PCs' as we have also included each resource in Microsoft PowerPoint file format. [back to top]Promethean ACTIVprimary and ACTIVstudioOpening whiteboard resources | Some versions of Promethean ACTIVprimary and ACTIVstudio software will not let you open a new Whiteboard Resource unless you completely close the software first. We suggest that if you have problems when opening any Whiteboard Resource you close the Promethean software in-between opening each file.
