Technical Help: The Three Little Cowboy Builders

As stated in the system requirements, The Three Little Cowboy Builders I-Fly Book requires a 3D enabled graphics card with OpenGL support. If the 3D POP-UP Book runs slowly or becomes unresponsive, your graphics card may not support 3D gaming. Please contact the distributor of your graphics card to ensure that it supports OpenGL.

For more information about determining the type of graphics card your computer is using, click here.

Where the animated book becomes unresponsive, freezes or will not open, the following steps may help:

  1. Display settings – Open the Windows 'Control Panel'. This can be accessed through the 'Start' menu. Double click the 'Display' icon.
step 1
  1. Choose the 'Settings' tab. From here, try reducing the screen resolution to 800 by 600 pixels and change the colour quality to 'Medium (16bit)'.
Tip: Make a note of your setting before you make any changes so that you can revert back.
step 1
  1. Try to open the animated book again to see whether this has made an improvement, if not, follow step 4.
  2. Select the 'Advanced' button in the lower right hand corner. From this new window, select the 'Troubleshoot' tab. Ensure that the 'Hardware acceleration' slider is set to full (if not, click and drag the slider so that it points to full) and click ok.
step 1

Should these changes not improve your experience of using the animated book your graphics card may not meet the minimum specifications as stated on the packaging box or the drivers may not be up to date; you may need to update the drivers for your graphics card.

If you would like Shoo Fly to check the compatibility of your graphics card, complete the following 3 steps and email the details to support@shooflypublishing.co.uk.

To determine your graphics card and settings:

  1. From the 'Start' menu, select the 'Run...' option.
  2. In the pop-up box, type 'dxdiag' (without quotes).
step 1
  1. Select the 'Display' tab. Here you will find the 'device' and 'drivers' information.
step 1

Note: Updating the drivers for your graphics card should only be undertaken by a user with experience of performing this operation. Complete the steps above to determine your graphics card before contacting the manufacturer and downloading the latest drivers for your graphics card from their web site – instructions for performing this update should be provided by the manufacturer.
