Shoo Fly scoops three ERA's at the Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham
The ERA (Education Resource Awards) are organised by the British Education Suppliers Association (BESA) to celebrate the best resources and equipment in British schools today. Shoo Fly's The Three Little Cowboy Builders I-Fly POP-UP Book and Angel Boy Connected Learning Resource beat stiff competition from large established national and international companies to win three categories: Primary Resources and Equipment; Secondary Resources and Equipment and the prestigious Innovation Award. 'Technically, the judges thought this the most exciting product in its use of 3D, to produce a pop-up book on screen. This use of ICT seamlessly blends with practical activities in the classroom.' ERA AWARDS 2007 In The Three Little Cowboy Builders I-Fly POP-UP Book, Shoo Fly has created the first ever, 3D virtual pop-up book that children can read, navigate, print out and make for themselves. Designed for PC's and Mac's this exciting and innovative resource includes cross-curricular teacher support and story creator software to engage the most reluctant of learners, promoting creativity whilst developing language and writing skills. 'The judges called this 'the most fun interactive book', 3D and pop-up, linked to a set of activities to make and do in class and at home. Children are encouraged to make their own stories, always taking them back to the focus on literacy skills. Teachers are supported throughout.' ERA AWARDS 2007 Shoo Fly's latest Connected Learning Resource Angel Boy is INSPIRED BY YOUNG PEOPLE AND USES THEIR VOICES, ART AND MUSIC to create materials that engage even the most reluctant of learners. Designed for older pupils Angel Boy uses four animated short stories to explore richly dark gothic themes across the curriculum. Focusing on encouraging reluctant boy readers, this open-ended, real-life scenario set of books, gives young people really innovative approaches to reading through a high-quality product. Exciting, engaging and edgy. ERA AWARDS 2007 Inspiring interactive whiteboard activities develop pupils literary and creative skills across a number of subject areas. The resource contains a Transition Project that explores issues around bullying and friendship. Angel Boy is a fabulous and truly original resource with stunning illustrations, over 200 Interactive Whiteboard activities and 300 original photographs. Shoo Fly's school license encourages pupils to use and adapt text and images to create their own stories and performances. Shoo Fly is a tiny company based in the North East of England. Founder and Creative Director Anne Curtis says, "This is a phenomenal achievement for a small company trading for only two years. We work closely as a team to create beautiful and imaginative resources for schools. We are all passionate about children and their right to the best possible learning experiences we can offer. It is therefore both exciting and a great privilege to be part of something as unique as Shoo Fly." |
